Sinamay Loop Fascinator

This course is aimed at beginners who want to learn the art of sinamay manipulation. This 3 hour workshop is to design and create a simple, elegant, loop fascinator on a headband.

The course will involve:

·        All materials needed

·        A comprehensive overview of millinery materials, various techniques and styles.

·        Practical application of sinamay manipulation- making loops for fascinator.

·        A series of sinamay trims will then be demonstrated, including bows, bias loops, veils, roses,

          andl ilies- if time allows at the end we can practice or another course can be provided.

·        Simple wired feather flowers with stamens

·        Time spent exploring loop techniques and trimmings for your own design.

You will leave with:

• An understanding of sinamay and its properties.

• Practical skills attaching sinamay to head fastenings.

• Samples of a variety of sinamay trims and understanding of how to secure them to your base.

• A simple understanding of design, proportion, balance. (and the application of colour if time allows)

• A simple loop fascinator with feather flowers attached to a headband which can be worn for any special occasion time after time.

• Confidence in working with these inspiring new materials and inspiration to create many more design from them.

• Lots of design ideas for using these techniques in your work
